What is a Manor House?
A manor is much more than just a large main house. The word comes from “herre” and “gård” – meaning a farm belonging to a lord – and traditionally covers a combined farm with several buildings, fields and often small homes for employees and craftsmen.
When you visit a manor house today, you enter a living environment with many houses, stables, barns and surroundings that together tell the story. This means that a stay here is not necessarily a classic castle stay with elegant halls and knight's hall - but an experience amidst history, nature and daily life on a large farm.
You can drive out to the farm where the drivers are, the ones who deliver the milk for the breakfast table. There is free admission to the farm, which is not right next to the castle, but is on the farms in the surrounding area.
Around the castle, there is space for the children to frolic in the nature playground, pet a horse and a pig, visit the fallow deer, play disc golf, use our garden games or go hunting for a prehistoric shark in the clay burial museum.
Take a walk along the new riverbank, which has created many new and exciting trails for nature lovers.
Gram is located in the heart of South Jutland, and it is therefore possible to reach Ribe and the Wadden Sea or Haderslev and the old town center with the cathedral and shops in half an hour. Legoland, Lalandia, the North Sea, Rømø, Flensburg, and Koldinghus are worth an experience.
